The current VAT threshold is £85,000 this means that once you expect your turnover to exceed this amount within a 12 month period you need to register with HMRC and start charging VAT on services.  

As you will be aware the Making Tax Digital legislation for VAT came into effect 1st April 2019.  This means that VAT returns need to be submitted by using a software.  At Bright Bookkeeping Services we work with multiple softwares to suit your needs and meet the MTD requirements.

VAT Returns Service


VAT checking and filing services​

If you maintain your own books but would like the reassurance of having your VAT return checked and filed on your behalf then this is the service you need.

What does this service include:

  •  Full check of your prepared VAT return
  • Your VAT return will be returned to you if there are any errors for you to correct and then send again
  • Submission of your VAT return.

You send us either a backup of your data or grant us access to your software, we check your dat, inform you of any corrections that need to be made and then once complete we file your VAT return on your behalf.

Price £100 per return

Bookkeeping and VAT return service​

If you would prefer that we maintain your books on your behalf and complete your VAT returns for you then this is the service you need.  Your VAT return is due one calendar month and seven days after your VAT quarter end.  We ask that as a minimum you send your receipts and paperwork at least quarterly (in line with your VAT quarter) and within two weeks of the quarter end.

What does this service include:

  • Maintaining of your books.
  • Weekly or quarterly updates (depending on your preference).
  • Year round support for any queries you may have.
  • Quarterly VAT returns.
  • Your annual personal tax return and company accounts if required.

We understand that your financial information is important and we take many steps to ensure your data is kept secure. All spreadsheets, documents and software associated to your business that is digitally stored is password encrypted. Any correspondence containing sensitive data that is sent via email will be sent as an attachment and will also be password encrypted. Physical paperwork is stored under lock and key. Your paperwork is isolated from any other clients so you can rest assured your information is safe.
